Specialty Projects

The extensive renovations, which cost the state park system about $500,000, replaced the plumbing, mechanical equipment, chlorination system and resurfaced all three sections of the pool. Visitors will also notice new handrails, ladders, and a wheelchair lift.

The pool has been a main attraction at the state park since it was completed in 1937. For the past six seasons, the pool has been operated by the Bastrop YMCA, which supplies lifeguards, offers swim lessons, summer day camps, and community events.
